Mexico Update - Camden G

Posted by on

Saturday we got to the Atlanta airport at 6:30-ish. Checked bags, went through TSA, and boarded at 8:15. The plane left from Atlanta five minutes late at 8:50. Riding the plane was cool. Lots of awesome sites, riding with friends, and a very good pilot made it easier. Once we got through customs there was a bit of confusion and we couldn’t find Mr. Nunez at first but we eventually did. The only problem getting through the airport was that Trevor Sherf’s bag didn’t show up on the carousel.  We searched for it for a while and they talked to some airport workers. Apparently it was left in Atlanta and was brought on the next Southwest flight from Atlanta to Cancun.

We got the Nunez’s right around lunchtime. They have a tremendously cool house which would be quite fun to play hide-and-go-seek in. Had a good lunch and then Long comforting nap. Had  team meeting over some details, then we met with the teens from their church. We went and played soccer at a local park, which was very cool, and came back and ate ice cream and then dad (Pastor Joel) shared a quick devotional. Had one of the best dinners in a long time. Mrs. Nunez made tacos of  fresh chorizo and beef and also there were some very spicy chilies. We went to bed early as we were all very tired.

We got up and ate breakfast at the Nunez‘s house that had a church service at 11am. We sang two hymns at the church service and Noah Rost shared his testimony and then Mr. Chapman preached. Katelyn Slieff and mom (Mrs. Gearhart) helped upstairs with the infants while Trevor, Claire, Austin, and I helped Mrs. Nunez with the younger children. In the afternoon we rested and went for a short walk to Starbucks. During the walk we saw some interesting architecture that I hit my head on. At 4pm we drove Playa del Carmen for a service at the church there. We followed the same routine there with their congregation. We then ate with them and fellowshipped after the service, which was an interesting cross cultural experience. After a long day and a half it is time for bed. Goodnight! -CG
