Ted Allston’s experience at HPBC includes service as a prayer pastor, an assistant pastor, innercity ministry director and HPCS teacher. He has served as a missionary in West Africa and is currently a 1040-window missionary, traveling primarily to countries where thorough pastoral and theological training is difficult or impossible to obtain. HPBC has been his home church since 1978. Ted made a profession of faith as a child, but during his college years lived just like any unsaved student. After a series of events left him feeling discouraged and empty, he gave himself to Christ as Lord and Savior in 1972. Since then his life has demonstrated enduring fruit of the Spirit. Ted shared that he desires to serve HPBC as a non-staff pastor because this would give him an opportunity to give back, to invest more of himself in his church family, and it is a privilege he would embrace. He is eager to get to know more of his HP family personally, work closely with staff and non-staff pastors, and be challenged by brethren in his own daily experience with Christ. Ted and his wife Marla have three married sons. Ted’s favorite pastimes include playing golf, discussing spiritual and theological issues with other believers, and cutting, splitting, stacking and burning firewood.
